The Fire Extinguisher - Wet Chemical - 6 Litre is designed to tackle fires involving cooking oils and fats, classified as Class F fires. It contains a solution that cools the flames and reacts chemically with the burning oil or fat, forming a thick, soap-like layer over the fire sealing off the oxygen supply and preventing re-ignition.

• Wet chemical fire extinguishers work by starting a chemical reaction that createsa layer of foam on the surfaced of burning oil or fat that starves the fire of oxygen. The spray also has a cooling effect
• For use on:
  • Cooking oil fires: cooking oil, grease and fats
  • Ordinary combustable fires: wood, paper, textiles, rubber, some plastics and other organic carbon based compounds
• Ineffective against:
  • Flammable metals: e.g. aluminium or magnesium
  • Flammable gases: LPG, propane and butane
  • Flammable liquids: petrol, alcohol, paints and solvents
• Care should be taken when using a wet chemical extinguisher as they can produce toxic fumes that can linger after a fire has been put out - after using indoors, windows and doors should be opened to ventilate the area
